Unveiled at the 1996 Geneva Salon, the V8 Coupe slotted into the Aston Martin range below the flagship Vantage and Volante models. In some ways a more elegant, user-friendly version of the Vantage, the newcomer had slimmer wheel arches and a less overt front air dam. It was powered by a normally aspirated version of the 5340cc ‘quad cam’ V8 Vantage engine, the output of which was still pretty sizeable at 349bhp and 369lbft of torque – sufficient to propel the 2+2-seater Coupe to 60mph in around 5.9 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 155mph. Four-speed automatic transmission was standard fit for this model, but the car that we are proud to offer has been converted to a 5 speed manual gearbox making the car more sporty to drive. It rides on distinctive six-blade OZ Saturn alloy wheels, the spokes of which were a tad slimmer than those of the Vantage. The rims were shod with Pirelli P Zero 225/50 tyres. Few changes were made during the production run, which lasted until 1999 and accounted for a mere 101 examples, making it a rare car by any standards. Finished in Buckingham Green with pale grey hide interior piped in charcoal with contrasting black Wilton carpets. This car has covered just 51,000 miles and comes with a fully stamped service book together numerous invoices for maintenance and the conversion to manual transmission. The specification includes: sports exhaust, cruise control, air conditioning, electric windows and heated seats. In September 2017, the car has been the subject of a comprehensive service including the replacement of the fuel injection vacuum pipes, new plug leads and caps and the engine management system has been upgraded. Four new Pirelli P Zero's have also just been fitted and the car is driving beautifully. These Newport Pagnell built V8 Coupes are arguably among the last truly hand built Aston Martins models, and have now become becoming increasingly rare and collectable and this particular car is especially excellent value for money at £74,950
